OPAL (Outdoor play & Learning)
Brayford Academy has adopted the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) primary programme to our playtimes.
The OPAL programme is the only one of its kind
The approach improves opportunities for physical activity, socialisation, co-operation, coordination, resilience, creativity, imagination and enjoyment through improved play.
Playtimes account for 20% of a child’s time in school, equivalent to 1.4 years of primary school.
We want to make sure this amount of time is as enriching as possible. Our playtimes look like a rich laboratory of creative expression, where every child is supported by knowledgeable staff to endlessly create and challenge themselves.
