Junior class make their own Murtis!
As part of their learning about India and Hinduism, the Junior Class explored the importance of murtis – sacred statues or images that many Hindus use during worship and prayer.
The children learned about different Hindu deities and discovered how murtis can help people focus during prayer and express their faith. Inspired by their learning, the class set out to create their own muris!
Using wire to build a framework, the children carefully shaped their sculptures and covered them with Modroc and masking tape. Once the sculptures had dried, they painted them with bright colours and added detailed finishing touches to bring their creations to life!
The project combined art, creativity, and cultural learning, giving the children a hands-on opportunity to explore an important aspect of Hindu tradition. They showed great patience and imagination throughout the process, and the finished murtis were fantastic!
